Surabaya is the second largest city in Indonesia. The coordinates of the city is 7°15′55″S 112°44′33″E. Total area of Surabaya is about 274.06km2 or 105,8 sq miles, the population approximately 3 million people. Surabaya has the second most important harbor in Indonesia after Jakarta port-Tanjung Priok, this sea port namely Tanjung Perak. Through motto of "green and clean" Surabaya is recognized as a nice city.

To Indonesian, it is known as “the city of heroes” due to the importance of the battle on November 1945 in galvanizing Indonesian and International Support for Indonesian Independence during the National Revolution. It is one of the reasons why a monument was built. The Heroes Monument stands like a rocket pointed towards the moon. The monuments becomes a center of public major attention in every November 10th, the day in 1945 when Surabaya commemorates those heroes who died during the independence war.

Another tourism destination in Surabaya and surrounding area are  such as: Zoological Garden opened in 1916, was first in the world to have successfully bred orangutans in captivity; Tomb Sunan Ampel, one of the Wali Songo who spread Islam over Java; Bromo Tengger Semeru National Park, an amazing "creater in the creater" is one of the most popular attraction in East Java.
